Series: Visiting Staglands

Yesterday i took the family to Upper Hutt to visit Staglands, a wildlife reserve located in the Akatarawa Valley. As a Wellington native, i have fond memories of visiting this place way back when i was a wee lad.

Now, many many years later, we get to visit this place a bit more often. It's a great place for kids to be able to interact with various farms animals, including horses, pigs, geese, chickens and peacocks!

Not trying to be one to make excuses, but you can imagine that it can be tricky focusing on photography in addition to hanging out amongst the wildlife with a very excitable three and a half year old. Nevertheless, i did manage to squeeze in some moments to take a few snaps to share with you. (click or tap to see larger)

Staglands is open everyday (except Christmas day) between the hours of 9.30am to 5pm.
